Do we ride for the whole 60 minutes? (or 90 minutes on longer rides)
On our forest trail rides you will spend approx 15 minutes getting to know your horse in the round yard while receiving basic instructions, and approx 45 minutes out on the trail. On our Extended forest trail and Forest to beach rides you will also spend approx 15 minutes in the round yard, with approx 1 hour and 15 minutes out on our trails.
Do we need to have any riding experience?
No experience is necessary, however we will need to know your Age, height, weight, and experience level to pair you with the right horse. Please use the following as a guide:
1) Beginner: Never ridden a horse before.
2) Novice: Have ridden a horse at a beginner level.
3) Intermediate: Comfortable at trot and canter. Can rise to the trot.
4) Experienced: Comfortable at all gates and with a more spirited horse.
I would like to ride at my own pace; can I join one of your group rides?
Our group tours are mixed-experience and the overall pace of the ride depends on the experience level of the group (i.e. if lots of beginners it will be slower paced etc). If you would like to ride at your own pace, for example either a slower pace walk, or a faster ride, please contact us to arrange a private ride.
Is there a minimum age?
The minimum age for our group tours is 10 years old, however kids aged 3+ may still be able to ride on private tours or pony rides. Note, the minimum age for tours at 'The Farm' is 12 years old. Please contact us for more information or to arrange a private ride.
My child is younger, but can't they just ride with me on my horse, in my lap?
No, as It's not safe to do do. It's the equivalent to putting a child on the front seat of a car unrestrained. We are strictly limited to one person per horse.
My friend said that there is a nudist beach where you ride. Is that correct?
We ride on Tyagarah Beach, which in parts, is currently a trial 'clothes optional' area. We always actively avoid any nude bathers, especially, when children are on a ride.
Is there a maximum weight?
The maximum weight for beginners is 105kg, or 110kg for ‘level 4’ experienced riders. Please contact us if you are slightly over this weight though, as we may still be able to take you.
I have a medical issue... am I able to ride?
If you have any medical issues, injuries, allergies, or disabilities, please contact us to discuss and we will do our best to assist you. Sometimes we will require a letter from your doctor clearing you for riding. You can also contact RDA NSW for advice and to find a RDA centre in the region.
I would like to book with a friend from overseas, but they can't speak English. Can they join a tour?
To understand instructions all riders are required to have at least a basic understanding of English. This is important as our guides will need to relay information to ensure safety for all of our guests. If you're unsure if your English is good enough, please contact us to discuss.
